Human Power Challenge
05/24/2008
Portland, Oregon
9th Annual Human Power Challenge !!

Yep, time to start planning on bringing your trusty steed once again to Portland and burn up the NEW track at PIR. As you know, we have had the great fortune to run our event at the Portland International Raceway, which is a world class indy track, for all of our years of holding the event. This fall, PIR completely resurfaced the track so she's baby smooth and ready for some cool bents to grace her curves.

The HPC is all about great fun with kool folks that talk about all things HPV,,, and slip in some outrageous racing every now and then. We have several different formats of racing to appease every facet of racing you want to test yourself at. The five main courses for your culinary race diet are as follows: 1/8 mile drag racing ( with light tree that has timer on it), auto cross ( fast and squirrelly), time trial ( get in that tuck), road race (jump into a paceline), and the 200 meter ultimate speed run (feel the burn). Don't forget all the spin time you have to put in testing out everyone else's machine! Categories for Juniors, women , men with subcategories for stock through streamliner to compete in. We have special categories in all events for the trike class too.

You may need some carbo reloading ( ya think?), so we have a social on Saturday evening that has grub and liquids, including some suds from our new sponsor, Full Sail Ale, to replenish your tank.

All the dirt on the event can be found at the race website which is; www.ohpv.org/HPC/index.html and further questions can be answered by asking the committee at; PIRhumanpower@comcast.net .

Hmmm, it's a holiday, thinking of fun things to do,,,

25th Annual MHPVA Rally HPRA HPV Races
06/21/2008
Waterford Hills Race Course, Clarkston, MI
Two days of racing at the same race course used by Car and Driver magazine for their hot lap testing.

Rather than an ultra-competitive event, this unique Rally contains fun events such as a hill climb contest, a contest to see how far you can coast down a hill, how fast you can go through a timing device to measure your top speed, and time trials. Most importantly, the Rally is an opportunity to view a wide range of human powered vehicles as well as socialize with other HPV enthusiasts from around the Midwest and beyond.
