The Rover is bringing triking to the masses! However, be assured this is NOT your grandmother's trike! With its higher seat, tighter turning radius, easy adjustability and simple assembly / dis-assembly to allow for easy transport, you may find the Rover to be the last trike you ever buy. And at this price, everyone in the family can afford one!

Posted by Calvin 04/14/2010 01:00:54 AM The SRAM DualDrive requires a derailleur and is not compatible with the Rover. When will the Rovers be in? Posted by Chris 04/14/2010 06:55:25 AM Mid to late May. would this trike make a good offroad bike like the kmx? what is the widest tire and max inflate pressure the rims can handle? Posted by mel 04/14/2010 10:41:16 AM The ground clearance and rugged frame certainly make the Rover a probable off-road candidate. Looks like what I'm looking for, how much extra is the 8 speed? Posted by Ron 04/15/2010 02:52:15 AM The Sturmey Archer 8 speed version will be $999. We can also build the Rover with the superior Shimano 8-speed transmission starting at $1099. Looks like a perfect commuter trike. Are you planning a package with fenders, rear-rack, mirror(s) & light mount? Posted by anorak 04/15/2010 03:28:32 AM Yes. Many accessories are available now and we will have a complete Customizer once the Rover is available. can i custimze the color? can you make it 7 or 8 lbs. lighter? i am 62 yrs. old an worry about how hard it would be to paddle on the beach, are up ahill. it fits all my needs other wise. Posted by doris 04/15/2010 11:24:22 AM The Rover comes with different decals so you can choose the colors. If you actually want the frame a different color we can paint them custom colors for $200. In the past it has been about 550.00 to upgrade from a Sturmey Archer hub to a Shimano hub. Why is it only 100.00 on the Rover? Posted by Dooney 04/16/2010 02:25:40 AM There are several levels of Shimano hubs. For the 8-speed variety there is the Nexus, Nexus Premium, and Alfine. To keep the cost down and offer the choice of a good hub we will be offering the base-model Nexus with the stock TerraTrike rim. Our $549 Alfine kit comes with a hand-built Velocity-Aeroheat wheel. i am looking for something i can hook a couple dogs to and pull. do you think an extended eye hook off the front of the bike would support this? Or do you think the kmx recumbent might be better in stabilty for a flat dirt yet bumby trail? Posted by mp 04/16/2010 07:52:21 AM With the high seat of the Rover, a dog pulling sideways at all could pull you over. I would recommend a lower trike. Can the rover be had with the New Nuvinci N360 hub? Posted by Jim 04/17/2010 12:31:23 PM Yes, we will be offering the Rover with the new Nuvinci. When will it be available? Posted by Pete 04/18/2010 09:58:44 AM Mid to late May. Very interested in the Rover. I live in Colorado so I would need different gearing for hills. What are the options and what would the additional costs be? Also interested in the steering modification. Posted by Swan 04/18/2010 11:34:58 AM We will have many custom options available including several gear choices. Pricing will be available soon through our Customizer. I am a Soldier who was wounded and I cannot ride a regular bicycle anymore. The TerraTrike seems to be something I would be interested in. Is their a backlog of orders or could I get one as soon as they become available? Posted by Steve 04/21/2010 07:42:07 PM We have 50 coming in our first shipment and anticipate being able to fulfill all orders. Will a Schlumph work? Will it take a large sturdy rack to exploit the 400 pound limit? Posted by Tom T 04/23/2010 03:46:20 AM The Schlumpf definitely will work. I'm looking forward to the Rover quad conversion! Maybe even a back-to-back tandem Rover quad? Posted by Anonymous 04/23/2010 10:03:10 AM Both are in the works. The wheel track appears to be narrow enough to go through a standard doorway (like the QNT), but it looks like the steering handles stick out far enough to not make that possible. Can you comment on that? I personally like the vertical steering on most trikes, would vertical conversion make the steering wierd? Posted by KirbyF 04/25/2010 10:23:36 PM The Rover is a little too wide to go through most doors without taking it in sideways. Do you think having the 8 speed gearing is enough to allow going up hills etc? I really want to get into recumbent triking, but the costs can be high and I have found no good used options in my area Posted by Kevin 04/29/2010 02:04:29 PM If you are climbing a lot of hills then you will probably want more gears. Otherwise, 8 is enough for a lot of people. Do you have any ideas about how to fit an electrical assist on the Rover? Posted by Per 05/04/2010 12:43:50 PM It would need to be a middrive system that would go in front of the rear wheel. Can you use a Rohloff on this without much trouble? Posted by Stephen 05/10/2010 10:08:39 PM Yes, a Rohloff can work. The rear needs modified some to account for the torque arm but we will be offering that. Would I be right in thinking that the 3 speed has gears 1=0.75 2= 100 3= 133 And the 8 speed 1= 100. If this is right does that mean the 3 speed is better on hills. Posted by Jim 05/12/2010 12:19:54 PM The gear ratios themselves only tell part of the story. The drive sprocket on the Sturmey 8sp is much larger which brings the gearing down. Can you break the chain in the middle and mount a gear cluster or internal hub so that you could then mount a hub motor in the rear? Posted by eric 05/12/2010 02:36:36 PM Anything is possible. The Rover does not have the setup needed for a rear derailleur, so to electrify it will require using a middrive like you have described. It appears the handling of the shifters and the clearance from the wheels is a vast improvement over all of terratrike's other models, which are mostly "carpal tunnel city." Do you think the elevated position and horizontal shifters could be adapted to a cruiser? It would be great to be able to actually see the shift numbers and keep your fingers more than an inch away from the rolling tires! Posted by printmkr 05/17/2010 07:28:48 PM Well, the hand position is a matter of personal preference. The Rover and Zoomer are the only TerraTrikes with horizontal handlebars. They are also both direct steering. The indirect linkage steering of the other models does not lend itself to the horizontal bars as easily. Mid May has passed. What is the new time line for Rover. Posted by Jim 05/17/2010 11:33:19 PM Rovers are in transport now. Apparently there were some delays due to powder coating issues. The are scheduled to arrive by the 2nd week of June now. will it be possible to pull a tagalong like the Burley piccolo with the Rover? Posted by Amy 05/24/2010 01:49:04 AM Definitely. according to specs, the frame is adjustable for sizing. will you have to add/remove chain links? also, where can i add water bottle cages? Posted by Anonymous 05/26/2010 02:20:51 PM It is adjustable by moving the seat back and forth. The chain does not need adjusted. What is the cost of shipping one of these to Norman Oklahoma? Posted by Stan 06/08/2010 12:10:35 AM Shipping as of today is $149. |
