I've ruined several of these by over-tightening the screws--but hey, the vibrations just kept throwing the mirrors out of adjustment. Then I replaced the metal washers with dual neoprene washers. Now the mirrors stay stable and there's no need to over-tighten the screws anymore. Also, fit a larger neoprene washer over one half the notch for the barrel nut; that makes a secure fit inside the bar-end too.
