The TerraTrike Path has been extremely popular, but here in Utah 3 gears is seldom enough, that's why we've created the custom Path 8 DL. Unlike our Path Plus series which uses internally geared hub transmissions, the Path 8 DL keeps things simple (and less expensive). The Path 8 DL features a new wheel, 8-speed MegaRange cassette, Shimano Altus derailleur, and a SRAM MRX shifter as stock equipment.

We've found the 8-speed setup provides an adequate gear range for most people, but we also offer some gearing upgrade options:

Schlumpf High Speed Drive
24-speed front gearing upgrade
Bar-end shifters

The DL features a standard derailleur gearing system with an 8-speed cassette. The Path 8 features the Sturmey Archer 8-speed geared hub.

Please contrast the shifting between your Path DL and the Path 8. Also what happens to the factory warrenty?

The DL version features a standard derailleur and 8-speed cassette. The non-DL version uses the Sturmey Archer 8-speed hub transmission.
Because we are not modifying the frame at all the warranty is unaffected.

I recently purchased a Path 8 DL from Utah Trikes to use as a communter vehicle around the Houston/Clear Lake/NASA area. I am delighted with it's smooth ride and comfortable riding position. So much better than my bike! No strain on my wrists, no pain from the bike seat! YEAAAA!
