This is the coolest trike I've ever seen! Is there anything you can do to make it even lighter?

Yes, we are working on getting rid of all the chain tubing. Also, once your boom is sized you can cut the excess off which will save even more weight. You could cut and plug the top of the derailleur post. You could go with a lighter brake/rotor set. My guess is you could shave another 1-2 pounds off depending on your sizing and how involved you wanted to get.

This may be a really dumb question to anyone who knows anything about trikes. But, coming from the world of Road bikes I wonder: Why not use the brake/shift lever (SRAM Red) shifting system used on road bikes?

Mainly because the brake levers would mount where the shifters are.
