The Catrike 700 RED

Get your own Catrike 700 RED

This is the newest trike by Big Cat HPV, introducing the Catrike 700 RED. The new RED features the top-end RED components from SRAM, including the S60 carbon wheel, ceramic bearings and the incredibly lightweight RED 10-speed cassette. We weighed this trike on our calibrated scale at 30.5 lbs.

The highlight of the 700 RED is the SRAM S60 wheel. This wheel is incredibly light and strong. It features a custom carbon rim and bladed spokes.

The RED 10-speed cassette is a single piece versus being made of seperate sprockets. This makes for an amazingly strong and lightweight cassette.

The SRAM 1090 hollow-link 10-speed chain is super light.

On the front, the SRAM Red 170mm dual crankset gives you all the gearing you'll need. Lightweight and mated with the titanium RED front derailluer.

The RED shifters are carbon fiber and feel super solid. The front shifter feels very smooth.

The rear derailleur has 10 solid positions.

Lest you forget, the Catrike is made in the USA.

The RED rear derailleur has a carbon cage and uses ceramic bearings for the ultimate performance.

If one wanted to use bigger chainrings, say a 57/42 t double, can the SRAM Red front derailleur handle that?

Yes, with some slight adjustments.

this damn thing is beautiful. but I can't justify why I need to have one to the old lady since I have an expedition.

I live in Seattle--lots of hills. Could I get a cassette with larger cogs or add different cogs for lower gears? And would I need to consider a triple chain ring?
Also, have you had reports of problems with such low ground clearance? Thanks.

You might want to consider the standard 700 which comes with a 27-speed drivetrain and lower bottom end.
As for the ground clearance, the 700 is definitely a road bike, so as long as you stay off the dirt trails you should be OK.
